When can I claim my guaranteed entry to the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon?
Information about guaranteed entry to the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon will be available later in 2019.
Entrants Through the 9+1 or 9+$1K ProgramNYRR members who met the 9+1 or 9+$1K program requirements during 2018 were eligible to apply for guaranteed entry to the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon during the application window.
Entrants Who Officially Cancelled Their Entry to the 2018 TCS New York City MarathonEntrants who officially cancelled their entry to the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon according to the cancellation guidelines were eligible for guaranteed non-complimentary entry to the 2019 race during the application window.
Entrants who cancel their entry in consecutive years are not eligible for guaranteed entry after the second consecutive cancellation.
Handcyclists and other AWDs who entered the 2018 race through Achilles International and who cancelled are not eligible for guaranteed entry to the 2019 race unless entered by Achilles International in that race.
Runners Who Have Completed 15 New York City Marathons
Runners who finish their 15th New York City Marathon will continue to be eligible for guaranteed entry in future years. This entry method is not available to handcycle applicants and other AWDs entered in past races through Achilles International.
Entrants Through NYRR Virtual Racing
Entrants who registered for and completed the 2018 TCS New York City Marathon – Virtual 26.2M race in compliance with NYRR rules were eligible to receive guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon during the application window.
Time QualifiersThe time-standard qualifying window for the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon was January 1–December 31, 2018. The time-qualifying standards, listed below, are for runners only. All applicants who met the time standards at the following NYRR races in 2018 were eligible for guaranteed entry in 2019: 2018 NYRR Fred Lebow Manhattan Half, 2018 United Airlines NYC Half, 2018 SHAPE Women's Half-Marathon, 2018 Popular Brooklyn Half, 2018 NYRR Staten Island Half, and 2018 TCS New York City Marathon.
A limited number of time-qualifier spots were available to runners who met the time standards in a non-NYRR race. These spots were filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants who applied with a non-NYRR race qualifying time were placed in the non-guaranteed entry drawing until their time could be verified. Verification was completed prior to the 2019 drawing.
All times run must be at least as fast as the posted time. Net (chip) time, not gun time, will be evaluated:

We intend for our time standards to offer equal access to our most competitive applicants across all age categories and to allow the highest possible percentage of runners from each category to earn guaranteed entry into the TCS New York City Marathon.
