How do I apply?

We accept applications year-round through the NYRR website. You will be notified by email within one week of applying. If you are accepted into the program, you’ll need to create a My NYRR account if you do not already have one. Participants who are selected will be notified by email and given a unique invitation code to register for the race.

Random drawings will be held bi-monthly for entry into the races. Please see the schedule below. Participants who are selected will be notified by email and given a unique invitation code to register for the race. All participants will be included in each drawing, except for the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon drawing, for which you will need to opt-in via a survey that will be circulated to all current Race Free participants.

*The 2019 United Airlines NYC Half drawing will take place October 22. All Race Free participants will be notified immediately if they are selected or not, so there is still the opportunity to enter the general drawing for the race. 
**The 2019 Popular Brooklyn Half Drawing will take place on January 7. All Race Free participants will be notified immediately if they are selected or not, so there is still the opportunity to register via the general registration.

Runners will need to reapply to the program annually. If you have applied to the Race Free program in the past, you will receive an email notifying you that you must reapply. Check the Race Free page during the application windows for more information about how to apply.
