How can I enter the drawing for a spot in the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half?
The entry drawing for the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half took place on November 20, 2019. Runners could apply or claim guaranteed entry during this period. The drawing is free to enter and limited to one entry per person.
Guaranteed entry is available through NYRR Team for Kids, other Official Charity Partners, Anthony Travel (domestic runners), and International Tour Operators (international runners).
The United Airlines NYC Half brings together a diverse field of runners from the NYC area and beyond. The non-guaranteed entry drawing helps preserve the geographic diversity of the race.
For the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half, the entries available to non-guaranteed applicants were filled through three drawings (“Drawings”), which were held on November 20, 2019, one in each of the following applicant pools:
- “NYC-Metro Area” applicants (i.e. residents in and within 60 miles of New York City)
- “National” applicants (i.e. U.S. residents outside of the NYC-metro area, including Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories)
- “International” applicants (i.e. non-U.S. residents)
After completing the Drawings for the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half, 15,325 runners were added to the field from a total of 47,793 applications (32%). For the 2020 event, 10,085 of 31,448 of NYC-Metro Area Drawing applicants were selected; 4,175 of 13,024 National Drawing applicants were selected; and 1,065 of 3,321 International Drawing applicants were selected.
Other factors such as an applicant’s state of origin also may affect their chances to be selected subject to NYRR’s need to maintain geographic diversity and within NYRR’s sole discretion. NYRR reserves the right to adjust drawing criteria at NYRR’s sole discretion and without notice.
